New Delhi: The Indian government has renewed its travel warning for Iran, urging citizens to avoid visiting the country and advising those already there to leave as soon as possible due to the deteriorating security environment. The latest advisory comes as concerns grow over escalating instability across the region.
In a statement released by the Embassy of India in Tehran, Indian nationals were strongly encouraged to use available transportation options, including commercial flights where possible, to exit Iran. Authorities emphasized that travelers should closely monitor official updates and remain in contact with the embassy for guidance and assistance.
The advisory reflects New Delhi’s increasing concern over developments in West Asia, where geopolitical tensions and security risks have continued to affect civilian movement and international travel. Several countries have issued similar warnings to their citizens in recent months as uncertainty in the region persists.
Indian officials have also advised citizens currently residing in Iran including students, business professionals, pilgrims, and tourists to keep essential travel documents readily accessible and stay updated through official communication channels. Those who have not yet registered with the Indian Embassy have been encouraged to do so to facilitate assistance during emergencies.
This is not the first warning issued by India regarding travel to Iran. Over the past several months, the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy have repeatedly advised citizens to postpone non-essential travel and, where feasible, leave the country while commercial transportation remains available.
Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and have assured that support services remain available for Indian nationals requiring assistance. Emergency helplines and embassy communication channels have been activated to address urgent concerns.
India’s latest advisory signals heightened concern over the evolving situation in Iran. For Indian citizens, the government’s message is clear: avoid travel to the country for now, and those already there should consider departing at the earliest available opportunity while maintaining close coordination with the Indian Embassy.
