The Indian Prime Minister has thrown his weight behind the early implementation of a peace roadmap for Gaza during a “warm” telephone exchange with his Israeli counterpart.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi just reaffirmed India’s support for getting the “Gaza Peace Plan” moving quickly during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The conversation happened Wednesday (10 December), and both leaders also stressed their “zero-tolerance” stance on terrorism. They agreed to meet face-to-face “very soon.”

The call focused heavily on what’s happening in West Asia right now. According to the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi, Netanyahu filled Modi in on the latest developments in the region. Modi responded by emphasizing India’s support for “just and durable peace,” specifically pushing for the peace framework to be implemented quickly.

This is a pretty significant diplomatic move from New Delhi, showing India’s alignment with ongoing stabilization efforts. The two leaders also talked about the India-Israel Strategic Partnership, saying they’re happy with how bilateral ties are progressing despite all the geopolitical chaos.

Security came up too. Both leaders “strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” which lines up with India’s long-held position on cross-border violence.

“Spoke with my friend Prime Minister Netanyahu. We reviewed progress in the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and agreed to further strengthen our cooperation… India supports all efforts aimed at achieving a just and durable peace in the region,” Modi posted on X shortly after the call.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office called the exchange “warm and friendly,” adding in a statement: “At the end of the conversation… the two leaders agreed to meet very soon.”

When they mention the “Gaza Peace Plan,” they’re talking about the multi-phase framework often linked to US diplomatic efforts. It’s aimed at securing a lasting ceasefire, getting hostages released, and rebuilding Gaza. Modi had previously welcomed the early phases of this plan back in October, calling it “a reflection of strong leadership.”

Diplomatically, this call reinforces the personal connection between the two leaders. Netanyahu’s planned visit to India has been pushed back multiple times throughout 2025 because of the ongoing conflict and security concerns in Israel. This conversation suggests a high-level state visit is still very much a priority for both sides.

With both leaders agreeing to meet “very soon,” people are starting to think Netanyahu might visit New Delhi in early 2026. If that happens, the visit would likely focus on defense cooperation and India’s potential role as a stabilizing voice in Gaza’s post-war reconstruction.
