India strongly condemned Pakistan’s airstrike on Sunday early hours, in which dozens of Afghan civilians were killed and injured as the Pakistan air force conducted an airstrike, targeting residential areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region. Islamabad targeted Afghan-based terrorist groups, which it blames for the recent suicide attacks.
In a press release, the Ministry of External Affairs said, “India strongly condemns Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghan territory that have resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children, during the holy month of Ramadan,” according to official spokesperson Shri Randhir Jaiswal
Pakistan said the attack carried out “intelligence -based, selective targeting” of seven terroist camp inside Afghanistan in the early hours of Sunday
According to the Pakistani government, the target included camps linked to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is referred to as “Khwarij” or “Fitna al Khwarij,” as well as the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).
The strikes were a series of deadly events in Pakistan’s northwest. In Bajaur, a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden Vehicle into a security post, killing 11 soldiers and a child. In Bannu, another attack left two soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel, dead.
Afghanistan’s Taliban leadership has apparently warned of retaliation following the cross-border strikes.
